So the first weekend of six nations rugby has now taken place. Overall it wasn’t the greatest start for Ireland. Ireland and Wales played out in a draw at the Aviva . Both sides scored a converted try and three penalties with the match ending in a 16-16 final score. Ireland had the lead early  on with half-backs Jonathan Sexton and Conor Murray combining for 13 points. CJ Stander looked right at home in the Irish back row, playing a key role in the lead up to Murray’s score. Tommy O’Donnell and Jamie Heaslip were also heavily involved in defense and attack as Ireland opened up a 13-point gap.But unfortunately Ireland could not could on to this lead for the whole game they added another three points from a penalty but that was it !! Wales managed to play catch up and even the score. The first draw between the two nations since 1991 – and the first in Dublin since 1974  leaves us  and Wales with a point apiece after the RBS 6 Nations’ opening weekend. Although the Grand Slam and Triple Crown is out of the reckoning now, Ireland  still have a third Championship title in three years to aim for. The question is can they now bet France ? What injury concerns are there with a six day turn around ? We will have to wait and see !
